Helmholdt+Company LLP strongly believes in the value of relationships. We view every client relationship as a partnership, and truly believe that our success is a result of your success.

Helmholdt+Company LLP’s origin dates back to the late 1950s when Donald R. Helmholdt became a Certified Public Accountant. In 1974, he started his own practice with four professionals. Over the years, we have grown into a reputable public accounting firm with over 20 employees, both Certified Public Accountants and other degreed professionals. We offer the experience and expertise of a firm committed to helping small- to medium-sized businesses prosper, combined with the attention and focus of a firm dedicated to personal service. We are truly large enough to meet your needs, yet small enough to deliver the responsive service you expect.

The individual experiences of our partners and staff shape their attitudes and collectively define our firm’s personality. We believe the principal strength of our partnership has been the consonance of our personal beliefs and values. This quality has evolved over the years into several themes or attitudes that recur frequently in our discussions and form the philosophical foundation for the operation of our business.

First, our firm’s most valuable asset is our people; and we have attracted and retained a superior group of professionals. In all matters concerning our staff, from training to compensation and benefits, our decisions ultimately are benchmarked by what is fair, and if we should err, we prefer to have been overly generous. In addition, we strive to foster a family and team atmosphere, where each person is an integral part of the whole organization working toward a common goal of outstanding client service.

Second, we require superior client service by every firm member for every firm client. We want to be known as the firm that provides outstanding service by going above and beyond our clients’ expectations. Our desire to provide outstanding service is the reason we make a continuing commitment to enhance the tools of our business. New software programs, faster hardware, more efficient network operations, and internet-based research tools all reflect our commitment to superior service. As part of our commitment to quality service, we have joined the Private Companies Practice Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Division for CPA Firms. This membership requires a triennial peer review of the quality control procedures within our accounting practice and we are pleased to report that we passed our most recent review with the highest result of an unqualified opinion.

Third, we advocate a proactive approach to business and tax planning. Our planning extends beyond internal staff assignments and engagement deadlines to periodic meetings with management to address operational concerns and to integrate the tax and accounting implications into realization of the client’s overall goals and objectives. We believe effective planning must include an integrated look at all activities of the business, as well as those of its owners, to achieve maximum benefit.

Fourth, we only want to serve clients that demonstrate high ethical business standards. Management of questionable character often does not heed our advice, presents unacceptable business risk to us, and has never proven to be personally satisfying to serve. Most important, the reputation of our clients reflects upon us, just as ours reflects upon them.

Finally, in addition to our dedication to our clients, Helmholdt+Company LLP and its employees are devoted to charitable activities. We are privileged to have been a part of several charitable events in our local community, including providing Christmas gifts to needy children around the world through “Operation Christmas Child” sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse and in the “Walk to d’feet ALS,” which raises money to find a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Firm members also volunteer in various other charitable and community activities, by sitting on local boards of directors and planning committees or serving in other civic organizations, providing valuable insight and leadership.

Whether in our relationships with our clients or with our community, these underlying themes and attitudes provide the foundation for a successful relationship...one of mutual trust and respect.
