Established in 1973 as James Angle and Company, Angle, Zaebst & Associates has built a reputation of providing complete and competent tax advice and services, while maintaining a personal relationship with our clients. James D. Angle, CPA. Sr. Partner, Founder.
Born in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Jim graduated Cum Laude from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting in 1963 and received his CPA certification in 1966. After working as a senior accountant for Price Waterhouse and as a partner in other local firms, Jim decided, in 1973, to establish James Angle and Company. Over the years, Jim has always endeavored to provide the most complete tax and accounting services, while maintaining a personal relationship with his clients. Whether it is his quick wit, a card trick, or creative tax strategies, having Jim as your tax specialist is always an enjoyable experience. Jim’s overarching philosophy is to do the very best job possible for the client while having fun doing it. Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Ohio Society of CPAs, and the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce. Jim and his wife, Iris, make their home in Aurora.
Deborah S. Zaebst, CPA. Managing partner.
A native of Cincinnati, Deborah graduated from Wittenberg University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. While working for the Grimes Division of Midland Ross Corporation, she passed the CPA exam, receiving her certification in 1982. After relocating to Hudson in 1984, Deborah started her own firm, Zaebst & Associates, which merged with Angle and Associates in 2000.
Deborah handles the day-to-day operations of the firm and is the resident QuickBooks expert. She has a quiet, reassuring manner that puts the client at ease, making difficult situations easier to deal with, believing that a strong relationship with the client is the quickest way to success.
Deborah is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of CPAs, and the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband Greg live in Hudson, where she serves on various boards at her church and as a team parent for the Hudson Varsity Baseball team.
Kathy I. Pontious, Bookkeeper.
Born in Bedford, Ohio, Kathy earned an Associates Degree with Honors in Accounting from Sawyer College and has over 25 years experience in the accounting industry. Kathy, who joined Angle, Zaebst & Associates in 2001 as a full charge bookkeeper, is responsible for payroll and sales tax services, as well as assisting clients with bookkeeping. Kathy, her husband Joe, and daughter Jessica make their home in Macedonia, where Kathy is involved with her daughter’s swim team and in Girl Scouting.
Diane C. Francis, Office manager.
Diane joined Angle, Zaebst & Associates in 2006, with over 19 years of experience at national and regional accounting firms. Diane is well versed in all phases of administration and office management and is a welcome addition to the AZA team. A native of Stow, Ohio, she graduated from Stow High School and The University of Akron, earning an Associates degree in Office Administration. A competitive volleyball player in her spare time, Diane and her husband Dan live in Stow.
