YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Referrals. Our success depends on building business. We intend to grow our accounting and financial planning practice, and the best way to do that is to keep you happy enough that you will brag about our mutual successes to your friends.
2. Good records. Remember that the IRS has total access to our entire client base. If an agent says, "This dog has fleas", he has the opportunity to audit every one of our clients.
3. Take our advice. It is pointless for you to pay us to make recommendations which are ignored.
4. Be civil. Perhaps the most upsetting thing in my career has been the discharge of a client who verbally abused our staff. We like what we do, and will not work for people who do not respect us. It steals the pleasure from our jobs, and diminishes the service you receive.
5. Be honest. We cannot function properly without a basic trust of our clients. Again, if we do not have some faith in the integrity of what is filed with the IRS, we cannot exist in this business.
6. Return phone calls. We do not call to socialize. We generally need information to complete our jobs. If that info is quickly provided, we complete your work on time and generally within budget.
7. Pay us promptly. This business is our livelihood. We have made provisions for extended terms when necessary. But, if there is no hope of payment, I wonder why we would assume a liability for accuracy and timely filing of tax work.
