2005 Federal Tax Return Extension Form

Quick link to download your IRS Form 4868 to get an automatic extension for filing your tax return. It is a six-month extension until October 15. However, the extension is only an extension for filing the return. The taxes are still due by April 15; therefore, the form has a place for you to make your estimate of what you think you will owe so that you can include your payment with the extension form.
