Gene is the Firm's Accounting and Auditing Quality Control Director.  He is primarily responsible for the Firm's technical compliance with professional standards.  This includes oversight of both internal processes and external sources.  He provides functional leadership and support by lending technical assistance, mentoring, and training to staff and management ensuring quality assurance standards are met.

Gene has been with the Firm since 1990.  He has been in the accounting and auditing industry since 1968 and has extensive knowledge and experience in the following areas:  compilations, reviews, audits, closely-held corporations, employee benefit plans, non-profit organizations, Yellow Book, and A-133 engagements, construction companies, agreed-upon procedures, manufacturing, professional services, retail trades, government entities, peer reviews, and ethics.

Gene's professional background has provided him with a broad scope of experience in many industries.  He has experience on the audit staff of an international CPA firm, as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of a major bank holding company, as Vice President of Finance for a large nonprofit organization, and as Director of Internal Audit for a significant government agency.  He holds a Certificate in Educational Achievement in Government Accounting and Reporting from the AICPA and an expired license from the State of Ohio as a School District Treasurer.

Gene is presently the chairman of The Ohio Society of CPAs Professional Ethics Committee and is a past chairman of the Society=s Peer Review Acceptance Committee.  He is a member of the Firm’s Employee Benefits and Non-Profit Practice Groups, the AICPA, the Ohio, Florida, and South Carolina State Societies, National Association of Public Accountants, Public Accountants Society of Ohio, Institute of Management Accountants, Government Finance Officers Association, Ohio Government Finance Officers Association, Cleveland Zoological Society, and the Western Reserve Historical Society.  Gene holds active CPA certificates and permits in Ohio, Florida, and South Carolina.

Gene and his wife, Nora, live in Strongsville with Abby, their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  They enjoy boating, fishing, bicycling, walking, and gardening.  Gene and Nora sponsor an animal on the Endangered Species List at the Cleveland Zoo.
