John attended and graduated from Cleveland State University after a tour of duty in the Army (Vietnam).  His degree is a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in accounting.  His formal education also included a year at John Marshall law school.  John is a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and a Notary Public.

John has 35 years experience of tax and accounting in public practice.  His experience encompasses a wide range of clients, from individuals through closely held business.  His range of knowledge and experience include private foundations, construction, various professional service companies, retail & wholesale operations and manufacturing.  He provides related client services including tax planning, preparation and compliance, financial statements, assistance with cash flow projections and management, financial forecasts and budgeting.  This vast practical experience has enabled him to add valuable insight to his clients needs.

John became a member of our firm in 2001 through a merger with Swearingen & Swearingen Co., a local Mentor CPA firm, where he was a member for 25 years.  He is a member of the Firm’s Estate Planning Practice Group and continues to service clients out of our Mentor office.

John and his wife Diane live in Mentor.  They currently share their home with two Calico cats, Cinnamon and Cleo.  Their hobbies include boating on the Great Lakes, traveling and various outdoor activities.
