John (“JV”) graduated from John Carroll University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in Accounting.  He passed the CPA examination on his first attempt in 1960. 

JV began his public accounting career with Schultz, Krahe, Martin & Long in June 1959.  In 1962 he went to work at Standard Oil Co. in the internal auditing department.  In the evening and weekends he started to build his own public accounting practice.

Since 1964, JV has been in public accounting specializing in taxes and real estate, both commercial and residential.  He and Tony Jelenic were partners of Veres and Company from November 1, 1980 to July 31, 2005, when they merged with Walthall, Drake & Wallace LLP.

JV and his wife, Joan, were married on June 27, 1959 and God has blessed them with five children: Jeanine, 1962; John, 1963; Judy, 1965; Janet, 1969 and Jerry, 1972.  Joan did a great job in raising the five JV=s, allowing JV to spend 6 years at night school at Cleveland Marshall Law School from where he received his Juris Doctor of Law Degree in 1971. 

Their five children are all married and live within five miles of mom and dad.  Combined they have nine children: Jillian, Jaklyn, Jenna, Johnny, Jessica, Michelle, Katy, AJ & Kayla.
