Ray is a Partner in our Accounting and Auditing Department at Walthall, Drake & Wallace LLP. He started his accounting career in 1990 with Tischler, Beard, Wallace & Co., and joined Walthall, Drake & Wallace LLP in 1999 when the two firms merged. In his capacity as partner, Ray is responsible for engagement planning and supervision, staff training, and business development. Ray works principally from our Mentor office.

Throughout his career, Ray has experienced a dynamic range of assignments in both accounting and taxation that have included multi-state financial statement audits, review engagements, consultations on structuring of advanced real property transactions, forecasts and projections, organization of client accounting systems, and litigation support. He also prepares and reviews personal and business income tax returns and other annual client reports. Ray currently services a diverse clientele which operate in several industries including oil and gas, real estate, construction, retail, and manufacturing.

Ray is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate Group, Construction Industry Group, and Practice Development Committee. He is also a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Throughout his career, Ray has served on Corporate Audit Committees and has been active in other local industry specific groups.

Ray attended Heidelberg College and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1989. He was active in several campus organizations, performed volunteer work for local charities and was a contributor to collegiate literary publications. Ray was also a captain of the Heidelberg football team and received honors, including his selection to the NCAA Academic All America Team.

Ray and his wife, Tricia, reside in Painesville Township with their two sons, Jack and Nathan. Tricia is employed as a contract corporate recruiter. Ray’s interests include photography, reading, golf, managing his sons’ baseball and basketball teams, and following the real estate and stock markets.
