Bob Tyrrell has overall responsibility for the firm’s tax department.  Bob’s expertise encompasses the areas of individual, corporate, partnership and fiduciary income tax planning and return preparation.  His other areas of specialization include retirement plans, business succession planning, charitable trusts, and estate planning and administration.

Bob is a member of the American Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association.  He has been admitted to the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Claims Court and several U.S. Courts of Appeal.  In addition, he has represented taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service during audits of tax returns and requests for technical advice.  Bob graduated cum laude from the University of Scranton with a major in accounting, and obtained a Juris Doctorate degree from the Catholic University of America Law School.  Prior to joining the firm in 1986, Bob worked in the tax department of Arthur Anderson & Co. for two years and spent the next 15 years with the Bethesda, MD law firm of Ash, Bauersfeld, Burton, Hendricks & Tyrrell.
