Bret was born in Seaside, California and as a young child relocated with his family to rural Ohio into a farming community. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served 4 years. After spending a couple of years in Dallas, he returned to California and began the arduous task of working full time and taking evening courses at the Santa Rosa Junior College where he met his wife Julie. He later transferred to Sonoma State University where he completed his undergraduate degree in 1995. He began working with the firm’s St. Helena office full time in 1996 and has primarily focused on the wine and manufacturing industries with a focus on taxation. He recently graduated from Golden Gate University with a Masters of Science in Taxation. He joined the firm as a partner in June of 2006.

Bret is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a board member and treasurer of Legal Aid of Napa Valley.
