Fred joined Johanson & Yau in 1989 and is the managing partner of the firm and its financial services affiliate JY WealthCare, LLC, and partner in charge of the accounting and auditing practice. Previously, he was a partner in a "Big 5" international accounting firm and joined Johanson & Yau in order to provide a more personal level of service to small and medium-sized businesses.

Fred began his public accounting career in 1974 upon graduation from Santa Clara University. His entire career has been devoted to servicing the needs of businesses and business owners with accounting, tax and advisory services. He has extensive experience helping start-up companies with accounting system implementation and tax planning issues and has advised clients on the sale and purchase of businesses. His clients include real estate developers, construction contractors, high technology software and service companies, light manufacturing and health care businesses.

Fred is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Santa Clara University Board of Fellows and the Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose legal/finance committee.
