Position and job function overview

 

This position will work with our small business clients, especially medical, dental and other professional offices, on tax and accounting assignments that fit in the skill range of the paraprofessional.

 

Competency Requirements (knowledge, skills, abilities)

 

Must possess a basic understanding of all accounting functions with the traditional business operating cycle

Proficient with MS Office: Word and Excel

Ability to learn and utilize accounting software

 

CLIENT ACCOUNTING\BOOKKEEPING SUPPORT

 

TAX PLANNING AND PREPARATION - these type of returns are prepared year round

·           Schedule C, E, F

·           1120 - Tax returns

·           1065 - Partnership tax returns

 

DEPRECIATION CALCULATIONS

 

SOFTWARE USED

·           Pro systems - tax preparation software

·           Quick books - accounting software that most of our small business clients use

·           Microsoft Excel

·           Microsoft Word

 

1099’S AND PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX REPORTS

·           Preparation of various 1099 forms

·           Preparation of personal property tax reports.

 

Major Responsibilities

 

PAYROLL - monthly, quarterly, and annually.

·                                   Preparing quarterly payroll reports

·                                   Preparing annual payroll reports that include W-2’s

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE

·           Customer service skills

·           Ability to take directions

·           Take ownership of projects

·           Work well within a team

 

AMBITIONS

·           Desire and ability to learn and grow professionally

·           Capability to take on other tasks as assigned

 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

·           Three years minimum full cycle bookkeeping experience

·           High school diploma, GED or equivalent skills preferred

·           Microsoft Word and Excel required

·           Income and payroll tax experience a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Regular predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.  At times, the position requires meeting tight deadlines and working in excess of 40 hours per week.  In addition, the position requires occasional travel through the firm’s market area.  All physical demands are within normal limits of an inside office position.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
