Application to be Excluded from the Absentee Landlord Sucharge
Homeowners Beware... Passed in the summer of 2003 by the City Council, the Absentee Landlord Surcharge is a 25% property tax increase on Class 1 properties that are not owner-occupied and that generate rental income. Home-owners currently occupying their residence must fill out this form to be excluded from the surcharge. Owners are not being notified of this exemption but will be charged, if the form is not completed. For more information go to the NYC Dept of Finance website.
