MEET THE PRINCIPALS BARRETT PENAN Barrett Penan is a co-founder and co-managing partner from 1990 to present day. Barrett received his bachelors degree in accounting with high honors from the University of Maryland and later received his masters degree in business administration from the University of Oklahoma. Besides the day-to-day responsibility of administering a certified public accounting firm, he is busy with sophisticated income tax, financial, and business planning for many diverse types of clients. Barrett's principal areas of specialization are with real estate entrepreneurs, self employed professionals, and closely held businesses. JAMES SCOTT James Scott, Jr. graduated Cum Laude with a bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Baltimore. Before co-founding PENAN & SCOTT, P.C., Jim was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and a manager with Ernst & Young. Aside from his current day activites as co-managing partner, Jim finds himself busy advising government contractors and small businesses, performing business valuations and litigation support services. Also, Jim has significant experience with auditing financial statements of closely-held companies, structuring complex corporate and individual tax transactions and negotiating financing for closely-held businesses.
