EDUCATION

Rick received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nevada at Reno.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

Rick is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Nevada and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants. Rick is also licensed to practice as an agent before the Nevada Gaming Commission and the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

PROFESSIONAL AND CIVIC ACTIVITIES

Rick has served on the Board of Directors of the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants, has served as President, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer for the Northeastern Nevada Chapter of the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants, and served on the Elko County Fair Board for twelve years. Rick is currently a member of Rotary International and has served as the President and on the Board of Directors of the Elko Rotary Club, is a member of the Planned Giving Committee of the Great Basin College Foundation, is a Trustee of the Elko Golf Foundation Scholarship Fund, and is an officer of the Elko Snobowl Foundation.

EXPERIENCE AND AREAS OF PRACTICE

Prior to joining Read & Powell, Rick was employed for eight years with Kafoury, Armstrong & Co. in the offices of Reno and Elko, Nevada. He joined Read & Powell in 1985, became a partner in January 1986, and has been the managing partner since 1997.

In addition to spending significant time in individual and business tax planning and compliance, Rick also advises individuals in the areas of estate and gift tax planning as well as estate and trust administration and compliance. He has considerable experience in the areas of litigation support, the Nevada gaming industry and internal control, and nonprofit auditing.

PERSONAL

Rick and his wife Begona are native Nevadans and have two children, Alison and Jon. His interests include golf, water skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, and photography.
