Assistance in Complying With TCA 6-56-401

TCA 6-56-401 “Finance Officer Certification and Education Act” will ultimately require all cities to either employ a Certified Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO), or contract with a qualified contractor to provide these services by January 1, 2011 through January 1, 2013, depending upon the gross revenues of the city.  Yeary, Howell has the qualifications and experience necessary to act as your CMFO should your City choose to outsource these services in lieu of hiring  or training a member of personnel.

Assistance in Preparing for the Annual Financial Audit

Has your auditor discussed “independence” issues relating to your annual audit?  Over the past few years a number of related pronouncements have been issued by various audit standard setting bodies and also by the federal government. These pronouncements provide that auditors, among other things, should not audit their own work or provide non audit services where the amounts or services are significant and/or material to the financial statements.  

Yeary, Howell can assist the City in closing its financial records at year end in preparation for its annual audit. Our experience also enables us to provide the expertise and training necessary for City personnel to fully understand any proposed audit adjustments as well as the City’s financial reporting requirements and responsibility.

Government Accounting Assistance and Budgeting

Should your unexpectedly lose key financial personnel, Yeary, Howell can assist you in temporarily maintaining the city’s accounting records and assist in the training of new finance personnel.  We also have experience in assisting in the annual budgetary process.
